On a quiet back street between the highway and the bay, we house a collection of sea water tanks and aquariums. Water bubbles and flows in a swirl that sustains unique collections of the bizarre and the beautiful.

St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge

The St. Marks Light is the second-oldest light station in Florida, United States. It is located on the east side of the mouth of the St. Marks River, on Apalachee Bay.  The lighthouse was originally 65 feet (20 m), extended to 73 feet (22 m) in 1867, light is 82 feet (25 m) above sea level.

9.1 miles (12 min) - Ochlockonee River State Park is considered an excellent location for boating and fishing. A 543-acre park with trails to walk, river swimming area. A 30-site campground. Picnic area and youth camp. Boat ramp available. Catch fresh and saltwater fish because the water is brackish. Diverse habitat for wildlife (deer, bobcats, gray foxes and extensive bird life including red-cockaded woodpeckers). Canoe rentals Pine flatwoods and oak thickets with lots of wildflowers.

37.6 miles (48 min) - The St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1931 to provide winter habitat for migratory birds, and is one of the oldest refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System. It encompasses about 86,000 acres in Wakulla, Jefferson and Taylor counties, and includes about 43 miles of north Florida’s Gulf coast.

The St. Marks NWR has more than 150 miles of refuge roads, levee, and developed trails are used by many visitors for wildlife viewing, hiking, backbacking and jogging. Over 40 miles of the Florida National Scenic Trail (FNST) cross the refuge.
